Adding Light

Hello! This is part of a series about products to help control your environment. Here, I am going to discuss lighting.

I do a lot of remote control lighting. I have remotes for my Christmas tree, battery pillar candles, battery tea lights, and deck battery light string. For electric holiday light decorations without remotes, I have outlet plug adapters that have a remote. Many of these remotes have timer settings, so you don’t have to use the remote daily. However, I feel like the Queen of remotes at the holidays!

Another option for a traditional table lamp is a tabletop push button. This is another outlet adapter. The lamp plugs into the adapter. The adapter has a cord connecting it to a push switch button. Place the button next to the lamp and no more trying to reach under the lamp shade!

There are some cordless adapter/button options also. I have one for my garbage disposal because I didn’t want to drill a hole in my counter. I did need to add an outlet surge protector and protect that button from water. Otherwise, this will be a repeat purchase.

What if you don’t want a pile of remotes or buttons your cat will play with? Explore apps! I can use an app to Bluetooth connect to my teens’ LED light strings. They may not hear me over gaming but ignore rainbow fast flashing lights? I think not.

My new fave is my app controlled 3D printed lamp. It has over 200 LED “effects” to match your mood. I am currently using “wipe random,” which slowly changes colors from bottom to top. This adds interest and glow to my previously dark kitchen counter corner. Yes, a corner I can’t reach from my wheelchair.

All of the above items I purchased. Amazon was my main source for remote control, adapter/button options (https://tinyurl.com/tvv96zre), and LED Bluetooth lights. My LED lamp was from Etsy (https://tinyurl.com/33p6nf8h).

Stay with me as I share my pet related devices next.
