A MacGyver Moment

Hello!

I was a huge fan of the original MacGyver show. How could I not? Where someone frequently saves himself and others with a paperclip, chewing gum, and a random 3rd object? I have many times performed a “MacGyver” to solve a problem. I did a “MacGyver” today.

I dropped my phone.

In the past, I could reach it or scoot it to where I could flip it on end to reach it. These don’t work from my current wheelchair.

The phone fell face down, and the back ring was slightly raised. It’s time for my trusty bike hook on a long pole. Nope. The hook is too large.

I needed to securely add a smaller hook to the big hook.  Paperclip? If I had one, yes. How could I not have one??

I searched the kitchen counter and drawers for a substitute. No luck.

Passing the key bowl, I spotted a visor garage door opener.  Yes, the clip slid off. Then I spotted a tiny braces rubber band.  Package tape, yeah, that’s better. The last person didn’t save the edge, bummer. Ooh, a regular rubber band. Saved.

It worked!!!

Mental notes: get paper clips; add a cup hook to my long pole hook.

When have you “MacGyvered”?
