When I run into an issue trying to do something, I try to identify what part of my intended action is the problem. Then I try to figure out different ways to do the action and what kind of thing would help.
I then start searching online stores based on what “tool” I think can help. If I can’t find it, I think about making it. If that doesn’t work, I will find a place to ask for ideas in social media.
One thing I needed was a way for me to flip up my wheelchair footrest. I could not find a sturdy enough pole with a hook the right length, so I designed one. A son built it from a wooden rod and a bike storage hook. From the left over rod, he built me a second longer hook for longer reaches.

Another thing I needed was a wheelchair seat back cover that was easier for me to move sideways. I could not find anything online, so I asked for ideas in my social media mobility aide customization group. These people have done amazing things to their mobility aides! Well, car seat covers were recommended. Now I have a pink boho patterned seat cover that matches my “Raspberry Beret” wheelchair base!

I will also just search wheelchair aides, arthritis aides, and disability aides just to see what’s new and what might help me. I found adjustable grips to add to my craft paint brushes this way. They were designed to be pencil/pen grips.
Next, I will go over my electric wheelchair and my custom touches in detail.
