Hello!
I mentioned that traveling to Germany is one of my dreams. There are a few challenges keeping me from feeling confident about the trip. I have identified a few milestones and resources to help me become confident enough for a transatlantic flight with a power wheelchair.
Milestones include learning German, updating my passport, a few trips inside the US, and deciding what I will do about a power wheelchair during the trip.
I have gathered my resources over time. I have been following Accessible Travel Community by Wheel the World Travel Agency and Curb Free with Cory Lee on Facebook. I have learned a lot. Posts of others’ experiences give insight on the planning process, what to expect, what/where to avoid, and highlight activities that you may not have considered.
Soon, I will go to a ski resort with a partnership for various adapted skiing. I need to work my courage up for the adaptive skiing level I require, but I will snow tube and wheelchair ice skate! Yes, I will take my power wheelchair on the ice. Imagine that! An activity where *I* have the advantage! I could even provide a tow if I choose.

So, pushing out of my comfort zone to re-engage in activities I enjoyed and took for granted before health challenges is my current purpose. I’ll let you know how it goes!
